Tree Service Guide

Is tree removal cheaper in winter?

People get told to wait for winter for a better price. In central Connecticut the month does not change the price. It does change the job, and some of that is in your favor.

Does the price change in winter?

The price of a tree comes from the tree: how big it is, what is around it, and how hard it is to reach. None of that changes with the calendar. Jesse looks at the tree and gives you a number on the spot, in January the same as in July.

What winter does change is the job itself.

Do tree services work in winter?

Yes. We work through the winter. December, January, and February removals are all in our books, in Durham, Cheshire, North Haven, and Middlefield.

With the leaves down, the climber can see the whole structure of the tree, and so can you. Frozen ground holds the weight of the truck and the crane better than soft spring lawn, so there is less chance of ruts. And winter is a slower season for tree work in general, so there is usually less waiting for a date.

When winter is not the right time

A dead or leaning tree over the house should not wait for a season. Snow and ice add weight to a tree that is already a hazard. If you are not sure, Jesse looks at it on the estimate and tells you whether it can wait.

Deep snow or ice on the ground can push a date back a few days, and we tell you when that happens. The cleanup is the same in winter. The wood gets cut up and hauled, and the brush goes through the chipper.

Questions

Same answer. The price comes from the tree and the work. Winter is a fine time to trim most trees, with the leaves down and the structure easy to see.

Usually, yes. If snow or frozen ground gets in the way, the stump waits until it clears, and the topsoil and seed go on when the grass can grow.

No. A dead tree over the house, the driveway, or the wires is a hazard now. Call or text with a photo and we will tell you what it needs.
